Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description:

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of mechanical components, equipment, and systems through thorough inspection and adherence to established standards and procedures. Your role will involve conducting inspections at various stages of the manufacturing process to identify defects, deviations, and non-conformities, and implementing corrective actions to uphold product integrity. You will collaborate closely with production teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain quality standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform visual and dimensional inspections of mechanical components, assemblies, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
  2. Utilize precision measuring tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers and gauges, to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements.
  3. Conduct incoming material inspections to verify material certifications, dimensional accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
  4. Conduct in-process inspections to monitor manufacturing processes, identify potential issues or defects, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  5. Conduct final inspections on completed products to ensure all quality requirements are met before release to customers or assembly.
  6. Document inspection results, including non-conformities, deviations, and corrective actions, accurately and comprehensively.
  7. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to address quality issues, investigate root causes, and implement preventive measures.
  8. Participate in continuous improvement activities, such as process optimization, defect reduction, and standardization of inspection procedures.
  9. Maintain inspection equipment, tools, and documentation in accordance with established procedures and calibration requirements.
  10. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a mechanical quality inspector or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques.
  4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
  5. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and metrology techniques.
  6. Attention to detail and accuracy in performing inspections and documenting results.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  9. Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100, is desirable.
  10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
